I have the chance to buy a 2008 RR sport from a family friend who works in the leasing dept for a bank. He takes cars coming off of leases to the auction, but could give us a really good deal if we are interested. I have always loved the RR Sport, but have always been a little weary bc of the reliability reviews.

What can I expect ($ wise) for buying this vehicle, and is this a really good deal?

Black- Good Condition Report
2008 LANDROVER RANGEROVER SPORT
30,644 MILES, 8CYL,, A/T, S/R, 4X4, HSE
$35,800.00

Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Oil changes- how often, how much
Is the reliabilty really that bad? Do the pro's outweigh the cons?

I hope to get out and test drive one tomorrow.

Thanks

Donk.

Go for it, my experiences are the MY2007 & MY2008 model RRS's are the most reliable versions around ! Would you prefer to buy a Ford or an Indian Tata mate ?

Your new ride will require oil changes every 8000 miles from recollection and give us some details on the interior if it's the Tan hide I just love that colour combo.

thats a really good price in my opinion. I got my 2006 for around that price and mileage was about 20k more.
you should go for it.
The RRS is a fun and nice car.

I called him back today and he was out of the office, AT the auction. I think this car went to auction today... may have missed out. Won't find out until he is back tuesday.

I'm a little bummed.

Hmm...I plan on trading my truck in soon and I'm getting offers for 44k from the dealers. If you guys were local, I'd just sell it to you guys. I have 20k miles on it.

Good deal, i found ones similar to my 08' Alaska white on Tan, still selling for around $45k. Only thing i have out of the ordinary is the rear entertainment pack $2.5k extra, everything else is the same as the rest for sale.

Sive.

Your MY08 Alaskan White example is worth bang on USD$41000 ! If it has 35,000 miles on the clock in HSE trim and rear DVD pack, would you want anything else ?

I've heard this a few times now, still trying to figure out what is different about these years... :?:

It was a good time while it lasted. They gave me 44k so I took it.

Sometime in the future I'll definitely be back in a Range Rover. Best of luck to everyone.

Had absolutely no problems with it. I would say it was more reliable than my previous Infiniti.

It's the summer...had a moment of weakness and I got tired of driving in my new extended commute into the city. Plus, I really wanted a Harley and I didn't feel justified to have both. I'd definitely recommend one.

Cool, thanks.

What is the typical service intervals on it?
Oil change- miles and cost?
larger maint intervals? Miles and cost? (like 7500 mile or 15000 miles servic @ $xxx)

Thanks

It was every 6 months for me since I didn't drive it enough to hit the mile intervals. And, since I had purchased a 2008, all maintenance and service was free (up to 6 times which roughly equates out to close to 4 years).
