Dearest Members..
My name is David,a Swiss transplant now living in Los Angeles..
Looking into buying a used 07/08 RR,but can't decide whether or not it makes
sense to spend the extra 10-15(20)K on the latest Model Year(2010/2011)..new V8,interior,etc..
or are there any issues with the new engines..and I'm better off with the 08 07 MY?
Thank you guys so much!!

I don't follow the Jag Trucks very closely, but I did not think there was really any difference in the engines (other than displacement) from 06-11, same basic Jag AJ-V8. Correct???

As far as I know
'06 - '09
HSE: 4.4L 305hp
Supercharged: 4.2L 400hp

'10 - '12
HSE: 5.0L 375hp
Supercharged: 5.0L 510hp

I would get a '10 - '12 HSE

The 5.0l is much more refined than the 4.4l and 4.2l, especially in the higher revs (>4K rpms) - super smooth. The steering and handling seem better too. However, my mother-in-law's 2010 RR has been much less reliable than our 2008 RR - myriad of electrical issues. Our 2008 has been the most reliable vehicle we have owned - crazy. Our 2008 RRS S\C has been very, very reliable, as well.

10k? Yes. 20k? No, so do some serious searching as there's tons of deals out there now that the 2013 is out, and 2010 was the last major update to the L322.

The LCD gauge cluster, LEDs, engine updates and other small refinements are more than enough for me to consider it worthwhile.

My rule of thumb for buying a used specialty car has always been to buy the best one you can comfortably afford, while making enough room for typical repairs of that particular model. Remember, this is not a run of the mill camry you're buying.

That said, as nice as those LCD clusters and other gizmos are, I'd be very afraid if/when those things break! :crybaby2:

Thanks everybody,
seems like I should wait another month or two to really get the best deals,as the new one will ship out in december..
they might even give you some good deals on the 2012 leases, because everybody will wait for the new ones..

Salient point, but let's remember that at this juncture you've already committed your flight path into a Range Rover, so you may as well get the nicest features you can afford as well. Also, I haven't heard of many issues with the cars that have LCD gauge clusters (which I believe started as early as 2006 with the S550). It seems like something the aftermarket would come up with a fix for anyway, like the bad pixel displays in the early L322s and BMWs.
