My wife drove the Range Rover tonight for about an hour. When she got home, she turned the car off and then re-started it. When she did, a tremendous amount of white smoke came out of the tail pipes. It's a 2006 HSE with 140,000 miles on it. Never overheated, coolant levels remain constant. The smoke smelled plasticky almost. This happened to me the other day with a cold start. White smoke for a few seconds, then it cleared up. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a head gasket. What you’re smelling is antifreeze.

Update. I drove the kids to school this morning. Before I did, I checked the oil levels. I was at the MIN mark and I just did an oil change about a month ago and was at the MAX mark. Started the car up and a big puff of bluish white smoke for a second and then it cleared up. As I am coming home, I feel a little stumble in the engine like I was loosing power. Every time I pulled away from a stop sign, a lot of bluish white smoke. Is there something going on with my PCV system or EGR? I lost a quart of oil!

Check you PCV valve first, I had a brand new one that would not close properly on high vacuum (like coasting down an off ramp or hill) and i lost about a pint of oil in 30 miles. Looked like a WW2 Destroyer laying down a smoke screen everytime I accelerated. If you can hear a whistle or loud vacuum hissing sound near the PCV valve on the passenger valve cover chance are the valve is either stuck or the diaphragm in it tore. Pull the PCV vent line off of the valve (squeeze the little locking clip and pull) if its wet with oil (some minor amount is normal) you probably found the culprit.

Thanks. I just ordered a new PCV valve and hose. We'll see if that works

Same situation but I already rebuild the engine.
Car runs great like never be but i am loosing oil and blue puff is very annoying and stinks not for me for my neighbors
to bad i dont have rich codes with black smoke

Replaced label supercharged to TDV8 will be the best solution

It was the PCV valve. Installed a new one today and it fixed the problem
