Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on an issue that has just occurred with my 2005 Vogue with the newer touchscreen infotainment system. It''s the BMW 4.4L V8 in case that makes any difference.
Basically, I had the car parked for two weeks while I was away and prior to parking it everything was working perfectly with absolutely no signs of failure or intermittent issues but when I started it upon return the centre infotainment screen does not turn on at all (not even the Land Rover logo - just a black screen with no backlight or anything) and the power button light just flashes orange.
I've scoured the internet for similar symptoms but all the information I could find seemed to be related to an issue where the screen gets stuck on the Land Rover logo.
Regardless, I tried the suggested troubleshooting steps of:
- Checking all relevant fuses and relays
- Disconnecting the battery and leaving for a few hours before reconnecting
- Trying to bypass the Nokia Bluetooth module in the boot area by bridging the fibre optic lines
None of these worked and the screen still does not turn and the power button just flashes orange.
What I did notice however was that none of the fibre optic lines attached to any of the modules in the boot had any light travelling through them. From my research, I believe this means that the issue must be somewhere upstream in the fibre optic MOST network as each module is supposed to relay the signal to the next module? In other words, the issue must not be in the boot but somewhere further towards the front of the car?
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this MOST system and might be able to point me in the right direction as to where to look next. What other modules that use the MOST network could be causing this and where are they located?
The car is fitted with the premium Harman Kardon sound system, Bluetooth telephone system, TV tuner, DVD satellite navigation system, and 6 CD stacker. Just in case any of that info helps. Everything on the car is completely stock with no modifications at all.
Many thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Angus
