Well it seems like they shouldn't be too tall since there is enough height clearance?
Yup that kind of difference could also lead to problems with the Gearbox, Differential & Transfer Box as well as the Speedometer and all other calculation including Service Interval being wrong!

You need to stick within a few mm of stock really.

Try using this tool and compare what you want with either 255/55 R19 or 255/50 R20 http://www.garyelliott.co.uk/ranger/tyrecalc.htm

Thanks!

I got some brand new 22" Stormers with new 265/35/22 locally and the sidewall is too small so I am going to get either 285/40/22 or 285/35/22 this week.
You need the 285/35/22 to keep within the required margins....

HOWEVER...............your Ride comfort level will be a measly 4.4 (10 is minimum for correct RR ride)

My 19" 255/55 R19 produce a smoooooth comfort level of 10.8!!!!

Do you really think that the 22" look is worth such a huge loss of comfort and the majestically comfortable ride that part made RR famous :?:

285/40/22 is absolutely the only way to go.

Had 285/35/22 before and there is just too much gap, looks horrible and rides like Golly Gee Whiz.
If you say so but thats a 73mm bigger circumference (3 inches) over stock design
That sounds worse than it is.

285/35/22 Diameter is 29.9 inches
285/40/22 Diameter is 31inches

Neither of the above is stock though!!!

Stock 255/55 R19 or 255/50 R20 Diameter is 28 inches and this is what the car is set up for;

Therefore:

285/35/22 Diameter is 29.9 inches = 2 inches over-size
285/40/22 Diameter is 31inches = 3 inches over-size

In Wheel/Tyre terms that's quite a lot of deviation but its your choice I was just pointing out the potential downsides however good/right they look in your opinion....
