I was driving on the highway and tried using the cruise control for the first time in the year that I have owned the car and it wouldn’t work. Whenever I press the set/reset button I can hear a clicking or humming sounds. Yes I know you must enable the cruise control with the button on the dash any ideas on what this is

Leaking vacuum pipes. The cruise control is operated by vacuum from a small pump but the pipes are rubber and they perish. Check the three small pipes at the cruise control actuator, it's fairly certain they will be split.
