Hi all quick run down just pulling out of a junction letting clutch out get bight then there is a bang and grinding noise think it has jumped out of high so into low let clutch out just get the same noise back into high and the same no drive forward or back. I am thinking clutch has gone, she had a new clutch in at 96K now got 186K on am going to drop the gearbox tomorrow night time permitting. Will order a new clutch assemble in the morning hope it will arrive Thursday.
any one think of any thing else it might be? did think it might be the chain in the transfer box but reading the posts that seems to where out and not brake.
Open to all ideas
thanks in advance

For 'No Clutch', the suspect(s) are the two roll pins that hold the operating arm to the cross shaft. For the cost, I'd amend your order to include the pins FTC1692 (Pin-Spirol).
Some people suggest a modification of smaller pins inside the correct pins, but I don't know what size these are.
I don't think the modification is essential, provided new pins are used at every clutch change.

Also check the internal state of the slave cylinder; they can corrode, and pushing the piston back obviously increases the workload on the pins. (ANR2967). This can be expensive, list price over £85, plus VAT.

However, I'm not sure this exactly matches your report of 'grinding noise', so it might not suit your circumstances.
What does the clutch pedal feel like?
