I’ve been on here a bunch since I picked up my RRC at the beginning of the summer. I’ve received a lot of great help and thought you all might be interested to see the fruits of you labor:

The beginning: blown head gasket, barely running.

I decided to do new rings, conrod bearings, timing gear/chain, water pump, complete valve job, new fuel pump and some other odds and ends. Here are some pics from the tear-down:

Here are some pics of the reassembly. I found out that I actually had a 4.6 engine from a Discovery, not the stock 3.9. I did all the work myself except the valve job:

It runs great! Engine sounds amazing and runs strong. The transmission shifts hard from 2nd to 3rd so I’ll need to have that looked at. I’m also still in the process of trouble-shooting the A/C, which currently isn’t kicking on. I’ve also started on the interior.

What cam did you use in this? Curious to know

The cam was in good shape so I didn’t replace it.
