Randomly died and will not start. I have massive spark coming from the coil into the distributor cap but no spark past there. I've tried swapping the cap and rotor with genuine and after-market parts and still cannot get a spark.

What am I missing here? Any help is appreciated

I have a '92 RRC. Have you replaced the Amplifier Module (AM)? I suspect that your year has the same. On my truck that Amplifier Module is attached to the distributor. I know for sure that if the AM is faulty, you will never get spark to a plug.

If the coil makes a spark then all upstream triggering, voltage etc is ok and working.

If you loose it at distributor cap, it must be cap or rotor. Usually the rotor as it can track down to earth via central spindle.

Possible to get more than one rotor failed.

I’m going with the cap and rotor solution as stated by rrLondon
Replace them first before you change anything else
and If it doesn’t start after you replace them
Try adjusting the timing slightly
