1990 Classic is missing parts

1903 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  fodamage
I offered to work on a friend's Range Rover Classic. The person he hired to work on the car about a year ago stole some electronics from undernieth the steering column. Neither my friend nor I know what parts these were, but the car does not run now.

Does anybody out there know what kind of parts might be missing. I can describe or send pictures of the wire harness terminals if it would help. It might even help if someone were able to send me a picture of the steering column area on their Classic. If you need more information, please let me know. I am really hoping to getthis thing running again, but I'm lost on the electrics right now.

Thanks for your help!

It would help if you could post the pictures of where the missing parts were, on my '94 that was where the main ECU was located, I know on the earlier ones that was under the seat  post your pics and we'll have a look :thumb:
The following items are found on Classics up to the '91 my.

Under the dash are relays.
First row closest to the steering wheel are as follows (left to right):

Headlamp relay
Heated front windshield relay
Ignition load relay
Starter solenoid relay
Heated rear window relay

Back row (left to right).

Rear wiper delay
Interior lamp delay/timer
Heated front windshield timer unit
Voltage sensitive switch
Front wiper delay

Kick panel drivers side.
front to back:

Sunroof aux. relay
Aux lamp (fog or driving lights) relay.
Flasher/hazard unit

Under steering column/lower dash panel are the door lock control unit (Kierkirt brand), and the audible warning unit.
These are mounted to the cross member supporting the dash.

Up under the dash support is a low oil warning logic unit.

On the lower dash panel is warning lamp control unit.
Also found here is the dash light dimmer.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure the door lock controler and dimmer controler are among the missing parts since neither of those two systems work when I put power on the car. The other systems that do not seem to function are the dash lights, winshield wipers, windshield washer pump, power mirrors, power windows (the sun roof works though), and heater controls. All of the exterior lights and the dome light work. The start motor clicks but the engine won't turn over, but this may be because I didn't have a high-amp electrical source hooked up to it.

Also when I put power on the car there is a pump/motor assy attached to the master cylinder that runs and does not shut off. Is there some kind of brake conroler under the dash too?

I am attaching a picture of the under-steering coulmn area showing the loose wire terminals. I can post more pictures if you like, but I don't want to waste a bunch of server space if I don't have to.

Thanks again for your help!
