Hello do any of you know how the tac is connected on the 89 classic it seems that the tac and speedo are a common problem on this year. I have a friend that has the same issue in his.

the tach get's a feed off the back of the alternator, if it's bouncing around you've probably got an alternator/battery problem.
The speedo comes out of the transmission

Yes tach is fed off alternator picks up a pulse every revolution from 1 leg of the 3 phase windings . usually a spade terminal on the back . make sure its clean & tight . Speedo is purely mechanical drive could be sticking in the cable sleeve at that age try pulling inner drive cable out giving it a lube with bit of grease . My old range is same vintage & ive done both as were doing same as it sat unused for 8 years . .
