I am thinking of replacing a possible bad ECU .... part # 84778a and PRC 6977 on label I think....

question is I cant find a reasonable PRC 6977 but can find one PRC 5053 and #84556D both came out of same year i believe.... are they interchangeable?

Thanks for all your help....

Not clear on the part numbers, but Rover's North has a used '87-'88 ECU, not cheap, but not as bad as it could be.

BTW, make sure it's not the relay...those square bosch relays are known to go out. Seems there's 2 under the drivers seat, one for the ECU and the other for the fuel pump. I can't remember for certain now, but there is a relay for the ECU as I recall. I would check that first before anything, swap out the power seat relay for the ECU relay for a test.

Well heck.... I thought I had found one.... but it wasnt the same one.. cam out of a later model. So now I have two newer ecu units one from a 90 RRC and one from a 95 discovery. Anyone want to trade two for one? I will post a pic of one I need....

Hope someone will have one.

the 14 cux fuel injection is very similar on all 87 and newer rovers, this plug youre showing has 40 pins just like newer models, the newer ecu may plug in to your connector, Im no expert on older models, but ive seen many parts interchange.
