This past weekend my full size 2007 RRSC gave me the typical tree of lights and transmission fault, HDC fault, suspension lowered faults. Did some research on this forum and concluded it needed a new rear diff actuator motor. Not having a lot of time to fool with the truck since I’m traveling all this week I decided to take it to a locate independent shop. Well when I get the diagnostic from them today, this was the result,
TECH REPORT: REAR DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL MODULE P806 CLUTCH POSITION SENSOR-RANGE/PERFROMANCE P080A CLUTCH POSITION IS NOT LEARNED
P186D CLUTCH ACTUATOR STUCK
CLEARED THE CODES. THEY RESET AS SOON AS I TURNED THE KEY.
I ATTEMPTED TO RELEARN THE CLUTCH POSITION AND THE PROCESS FAILED. NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEFORE FURTHER Diagnostic

Long story short, they want to replace the diff motor as well as the entire unit, almost $5K out of my pocket.

Does this seem right or am I getting jerked around. The issues seems pretty straight forward as just the locking diff motor to me.

I would call. the dealer and ask the service writer what his thoughts are based on the previous diagnosis
