I replaced the battery and I still have the issue. It hasn't stranded me but it will give me the click and a brief turn and then after shutting it off and waiting a few seconds it will then start. When it starts it behaves normally. Could this be a solenoid or starter going bad?

My first guess would be the battery or battery connection.

Second guess would be a starter issue.

Might be that ignition isn't detecting the key signal, but if you're hearing a click then I doubt it

After my initial post the issue reared its head after 8 months and this time it only clicks, no start doesn’t engage at all. Just a click. Tried taking the battery hone and charged it, but still just a click. Solenoid or starter?

I’d say solenoid, but since it’s part of the starter I can’t say it really matters much. If you can get access, whack it with a hammer and see if it starts.

Yep. Called the tow truck, taking it home and replacing the starter. Ordered from rock auto. I'll update then...

If it’s anything like the 2.7 TDV6 diesels, get ready to use a lot of swear words.

I received my starter and changed it out. No more starter issues. I bought a remanufactured one from Rock auto. $97 to my door, sent the bad one back, and got $44 core refund. $57 dollars after shipping and everything in. I did have to buy a swivel to get the power cable off.
2+ hours of swearing but it’s done…
thanks for the information all!
