Walked in to my garage this AM and found my 05 HSE RR slated few inches to the right side (in the front). It was obvious but weird... to encounter such "B.S." on such expensive vehicle. I'm bombed out. The car is in pristine - showroom condition and has always been serviced at a local RR Dlr. It has 73kmiles and looks, drives brand new. I just had the dealer replace entire front lower suspension a month ago and it drove perfect & smooth. Last night as I was driving home, i noticed that it pulled a little to the right side (on the FRWY). This morning as I drove out of the garage, the vehicle raised up and drove normal, until I got on the freeway. As i was cruising at 70mph, i felt the front end slowly lowered to the ground and began to feel very bumpy... No error lights or codes on the dash. None... I came out and saw that the front end was slammed down (evenly) - It looked pretty embarrassing and funny... The leveling lights on the knob light up but the vehicle does not go up or down.

*I need some help / advise please.

-What can the problem be..?

-Where do I look for clues to know what the problem may be..?

- Any local range rover specialists or shop that I can trust ..? (im in Southern Orange County - CA )

- How much would it aproximately cost to repair the issue..?

Thanks and let me know...

Mike,

Sounds like it's a leaking air bag, you can replace just the one up front to save some costs. Checkout the Arnott complete reman'd strut, it's also possible for a leaky connection at the air block behind the wheel well liner.

Rover Doctor in Irvine - tell them I sent you.

Arnott Bags for replacement - probably do both since if one is gone, the other is soon to follow.

I did both fronts on mine at 85k miles - and just did both rears at 106k miles.

It's an expensive job "by the book" - good luck!

Before you start complaining about the performance of your luxury vehicle too much, can I suggest that you read your owners manual?

For the most part, what you are noticing is the normal performance of the RR air suspension system. It lowers at freeway speeds for improved aerodynamics  & stability (The ride will be a little stiffer as the bags are now shorter and not giving the same dampening as normal), the suspension manual control can sometimes take a while to respond if it's been used a lot, the vehicle has recently been started up (and the air tank is empty) or you have a door open.

If you do have a leaky airbag, suck it up and replace it. These things happen. Would you be so quick to complain if your Lexus needed a new shock absorber? Same thing.

As for pulling to one side or the other, this could be your front brakes dragging (as they can do, they are a wear item) or just due to the camber of the road.

Thanks for the info.

Drove it slowly to the RR Dlr in OC and they diagnosed the problem - it was in fact the Passenger Front Spring. (Over $1.3k) to replace.

Wow.
I guess, i'm already learning the Service Appetite of a Range Rover...

Thank You

I'm dealing with the exact same problem right now. Ordered the air spring from Arnott for $340 and going to install it myself toady. I'll let you know how it goes. You might want to go my route and save a grand.

Done! Front right air spring changed and back to normal. Please buy the strut and do it yourself. It was very simple. If you can change your own oil and brake pads you will have no trouble doing this. If you need help you can ask me or pm me for my phone number, I'll walk you through it. Sorry I didnt think to take any pictures but the instruction from Arnutts website is pretty easy and clear with pictures.
Save $1000 and do it yourself in 2 hours or less!
