I recently picked up a '04 RR HSE, and want to install a set of 22" rims.

I'm trying to keep the new tires as close as possible to the outer diameter of the original tires. I have not been able to find the outer diameter of the original tires. Does anyone know that size?

Also, most of the info that I've checked recommends 285/35 tires with 22" rims. Does that sound right?

Google 'tire+size+calculator'

Do be aware that 22's are def more show than go. Ride quality will suffer - but if it wiggles your willy, do it.

Standard wheel/tyre combinations for 2002-2005 models :

18 inch = 255/60 R18 (unloaded radius = (18 x 25.4 / 2) + (0.60 x 255) = 382mm)
19 inch = 255/55 R19 (unloaded radius = (19 x 25.4 / 2) + (0.55 x 255) = 382mm)
20 inch = 255/50 R20 (unloaded radius = (20 x 25.4 / 2) + (0.50 x 255) = 382mm)

For your 22 inch combination (285/35 R22) :

Unloaded radius = (22 x 25.4 / 2) + (0.35 x 285) = 379mm

In other words the rolling radius is practically identical, the tyres are just 30mm wider. Obviously it will depend on the wheel offset as to what running clearance (or lack of it :) ) you end up with.
