Hello,

I noticed my passenger side tailgate cable dangling and I simply tried to screw it back in but nah, no threads to screw into where the end of the tailgate cable would. I checked the driver side, unscrewed the bolt and there are sure enough some threads to screw into.

What's the deal? Is there some sort of internal thread portion that broke off? I shook the tailgate and I did not hear any loose rattle of perhaps a broken off part. I have not yet tore apart the tailgate, mainly because I do not know how. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, obviously there should be threads for the bolt to go into. Since you have had the other side off, what is different? Your visual acuity is going to answer this far better than anyone's guesses over the internet. Direction on gaining access can be found in RAVE.

The threaded nut fell off and is on the bottom of the tailgate. The passenger side fell off on my '04 last year. Take off the inner panel (see Rave) and use a flashlight to find it.
