  1. Electric fan replacement for viscous clutch and fan

Range Rover Mark III / L322
Anybody tried one yet? Ideally it would have a controller that monitors the engine or rad temps.
  2. 1995 Range Rover Classic Viscous Coupling rebuild

    Range Rover Classic
I'm replacing the viscous coupling in my 1995 RRC. I'm putting a new bearing and new seal in the VC housing. Do I need to grease the bearing before putting it in the housing, or does it just get lube from the ATF that goes into the transfer case? Thanks, Doug
  3. Viscous coupling sources

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Anybody sugest the best place to get a new viscous as Ashcroft don't seem to have any at the moment.
  4. Viscous coupling woes

    Range Rover Classic
Hey guys, looking at the best solution to remedy my viscous coupling problem. I'm pretty sure the thing is seized. When I turn a circle in full lock, the rear inside wheel will roll then scrub as the windup is relieved. Also when I lift a front tire, it turns a bit when it leaves the ground...
  5. 1999 P38 overcooling & replacement viscous clutch

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi Guy's I've had my 6th p38 for 2 years & with the colder weather noticed that the heaters art getting above warm. The temperature gauge doesn't move off the start point, so I'm thinking that its overcooling due to the viscous clutch. Now looking around, i noticed that if you search for a...
  6. Viscous Fan nut

Range Rover Mark III / L322
Ive been trying to remove my fan to install a new thermostat housing. My question is which way do i need to go to remove the bolt. Ive been tapping and turning with no luck to the left hand side. My vehicle is a 2006 range rover hse 4.4 non sport Model jaguar engine.
  7. Restoring my 2006 TD6 - The viscous saga

Range Rover Mark III / L322
Having bought a front end damaged TD6 I thought with a few part swaps everything would be fine. Now I've hit a snag. All the hard work is done (so I thought) and now I find I cant install the viscous fan as it hits the small cooler rad at the bottom. Nothing looks bent, broken or out of shape so...
  8. 98 P38 4.6 viscous fan pull more air than 95 classic 4.2?

    Range Rover Classic
One of the blades broke on my 95 classic. The fan from a 98 P38 fits with a little shaving of the inside of the lower shroud. P38 fan has more pitch but fewer blades. Does it draw more air? My alternative is the one piece fan/clutch from a disco II. Both are at my local U-Pull It.
  9. Diesel viscous fan

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi guys, Has anyone had any success with repairing a diesel viscous fan? My range is over cooling and the fan is very stiff (when the engine isn't running). Any advice would be appreciated Many thanks
  10. Replaced viscous fan coupling, faulty?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi guys My viscous fan has been running constantly since i bought the truck, so I guess it got stuck engaged. I bought a new coupling unit and after going insane do to the nut holding it in place I finally got it off :) I replaced the coupling with the new one and it still runs constantly at...
  11. Viscous fan nut direction

    Range Rover Sport / L320
Can someone please confirm for me which way the viscous fan nut comes off ? I bought a water pump wrench that fits the nut and fits in there and I bought a tool that is supposed to hold the belt pulley to remove the viscous fan - of course it doesn't fit right, but it will hold with one bolt...
  12. Viscous coupling

    Range Rover Classic
Will a viscous coupling for the transer box on a P38 fit a Classic?
  13. Viscous Coupling Replacement 1995 Classic

    Range Rover Classic
My viscous coupling went bad in my blue 95 a while back and I've put off fixing it for a while now but I think I finally have time to tackle the project. I have never done a VC replacement before and there doesn't seem to be much in the shop manual about it. Does anyone know how to replace one...
  14. viscous fan

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi all, with a bit strange question. So, this is the case - as soon as the temperatures outside are above 20-25 celsius, and i have been driving below about 40 kph for a while, my fan comes on, which seems normal, but it takes away a LOT of power. Above 3k rpm there is only a strong fan noise...
  15. Squealing from the Front

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi All, Just recently, the car has started 'squealing' just after start-up. It seems to me to be one of the belts slipping in particular the one that drives the alternator but the first time it happened its stopping seem to coincide with the fan 'kicking-in'! If I put the battery on charge...
  16. Viscous fan nut wont budge

Range Rover Mark III / L322
Hi All I am trying to replace my water pump on 2004 4.4 v8 vogue as this has gone and also the alternater belt has snapped. I have got a bwm specials tools to remove the fan but i can not get it to move. I have now broken the pulled and still can not reomve the nut. I am trying to undo the nut...
  17. Viscous coupling unit

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I have raised 1 front wheel and could not rotate it. Gearbox was in neutral. Is it Viscous coupling unit, that doesn't work? :?::?:
  18. Viscous fan

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Hi all, there seem to be many replacement centres for petrol engined p38s but no diesel ones. does anyone know if they are available or will the petrol ones do the job thanks
  19. Viscous fan - should I be able to hear it on this?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Just wondering - when the viscous fan locks up, should it be audible on the P38 V8? I ask because I've never heard it, and I'm just comparing it to my 530D, which when locked up really makes a racket. More so - with the recent nice weather here, I've noticed in traffic the temperature creeping...
