  1. Driving to Chamonix, snow chains needed?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
As in the title really, driving down to Chamonix New year's day for two weeks and I've just heard on the news channel that French police aren't letting anyone drive in that region without snow chains at the moment. We've done this trip several times before and never needed them, the Range...
  2. My test for braking distances on snow

    Range Rover Sport / L320
I recently acquired a 2012 Sport V8SC and was wondering how well it brakes on snow. I was unable to find anywhere a comparison with other cars, so I decided to test myself, and share the info here in case someone else is interested :) I compared to a VW Tiguan. Both vehicles are fitted with new...
  3. Snow tires

    Range Rover Sport / L320
Bridgestone has a reasonably priced Blizzak, the DM-V1. However, it does not come in a 255/50/19, which my 2009 RRS HSE calls for. It does come in a 255/55/19. Any downside using that slightly taller tire ? Thanks.
  4. Redbourne wheels and Nokain snow tires (w/pics)

Range Rover Sport II / L494
I had mentioned this in another thread but after searching for winter tires that would work for Colorado mountain driving on the stock 21" ATB wheels (275/45/21) and not being super impressed with the selection, decided to move down to 20" wheels. Going through the dealer was a bit painful at...
  5. Snow Chain curiosity.

Range Rover Mark IV / L405
Why does Land Rover want snow chains on the rear wheel only and not all 4?
  6. Snow Chains - LR OEM or Aftermarket

Range Rover Sport II / L494
Hi everyone, I'm in California, so the need for Snow Chains will be very minimal- however I do plan on taking my RRS to the mountains/snow in the Winter (next year) to go snowboarding. Question: Does anyone have the OEM snow chains mentioned on the website/accessories booklet? Or does anyone...

Range Rover Mark II / P38

  8. 4wd questions

    Range Rover Sport / L320
Hi, tried to find this on the forum to no avail. Roads being plowed after intense snow a couple weeks ago blocked cars parked on the street behind a 2 ft berm of packed snow. Nobody could get out without 4wd. My brother's Xterra crawled right through with no effort...no need to rock it back...
  9. Having some fun in the snow storm

    Range Rover Sport / L320
  10. Cooper Zeon in snow

    Range Rover Sport / L320
I've now had significant - and I mean SIGNIFICANT - driving experience with these tires in snow on my '12 RRS and while I can't say they're as good as my Blizzaks I can say they're quite capable. Given this is a high mileage tread compound its not going to have the sticky soft capability of the...
  11. Studless Snow Tires for 255/55 R20?

Range Rover Sport II / L494
Picked up a brand new 2014 RRS SC yesterday. Now I need snow tires. I realized this even before the consumer reports article was published today. In reviewing the Land Rover Tire matrix, the only approved tire I see in this size is the Latitude Alpin. From various reviews, it does not seem...
  12. First real snow storm in Boston and RRS was awesome

Range Rover Sport II / L494
I was a little concerned going to 22" all-seasons and how they would handle snow. I can say after the first storm, I did everything I could to get it stuck and I had no problems. Even seeing other people struggle and the RRS having no problem was a relief. I had it raised up out of caution...
  13. First major snow of the season, wife stole the RR, so I want another

Range Rover Mark II / P38
First major snow of the season, wife stole the RR, so I want another Long story short, now that it is snowing the wife decides she gets the range rover (which has been my DD since last march!!) Its a 2000 4.0 SE with almost 202k miles on it. I have been thinking of getting another one anyways...
  14. Guys, your expertise is needed for my snow tires selection please

    Range Rover Sport / L320
Guys, your expertise is needed for my snow tires selection please I just visited my tire guy, and he is insisting that I get the Nokian WRG2. I like the Pirelli Scorpion because it is run-flat, but I am told it is noisy. What do you guys think. Thank you.
  15. Snow Tire Question

Range Rover Mark IV / L405
Hi to all, First post and first question. Awaiting delivery of my 2014 HSE (Ordered early August Glen Cove, expected end of December). This will be RR number four for me. 04 HSE BMW engine (Loved). 07 Super Charged (Problem Child). Always thought the 04 BMW V8 Motor had more go to it than the 07...
  16. Wheel predicament - which way to go for a snow set?

    Range Rover Classic
Hi all, I've gotten myself into a right pickle ;-) I've used a set of hub adapters to change my PCD in order to fit the new set of wheels & tires I have. Upon fitting them, my old lug nuts were thrown away due to being pretty shot, as they will. Now I have my new wheels on with my hub adapters...

  20. L322 Front Hitch Receiver for snow plow, winch, etc

Range Rover Mark III / L322
I would like to put a descrete front hitch receiver on the RR. I've googled quite a bit, but am yet to find kits or pics of hacks that others have done. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I would mainly use it for a snow plow for my driveway. Is this a bad idea? If so, why? I think it...
