  3. Cat removal 09 RRSC

Range Rover Mark III / L322
MY 09SC repeatedly gave cat faults, diagnosed by different independent LR garages. (175 000km's) Post a reset they would reappear after +/- 400km's We have no legal obligation to have cats, so i took the plunge of having them removed, as replacement cost is unjustifiably high. Moral debate...

Apparently OBD code 1170 is also attributable to a hairline crack on the catalytic converter, I have heard of possible repairs to this problem, does anyone know how to detect it and how to repair it? Please any thought would be appreciated. Tks Lou
  5. 4.6 cat delete?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with deleting the cats from their exhaust in the P38s. I plan to cut out the whole cat and just re connect with pipe, any loss of torque? Or maybe fuel mileage gains? Thanks
  6. High flow/performance CAT recommendations?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Does anyone have one? I'm currently looking at the universal Magnaflow one for my 2002, just wanted to know if there were any better options out there... Can they be directly welded on without disturbing the O2 sensor threads? The Magnaflows don't look like they're shaped exactly like the OE...
  7. Supercharged cat back exhaust recommendations?

Range Rover Sport II / L494
Any of you guys running something that sounds a little better? I'd like a little more rumble without being too loud or droning obviously. Plus the tips are too small IMO. Get me some pics, pricing, and sound clips if you have em!

Hi Internet First post so i'll say a quick hello and thank you. 9. Check Engine Light, bad cat converter already?

    Range Rover Sport / L320
Got a new CEL randomly while driving for a few hours, p0420. From searching online, it sounds like its either from a bad 02 sensor or bad cat converter, but most likely the cat converter. I cleared the code so we'll see if it pops up again but could my cat converter already be going bad on an...
  10. 1988 RR Cat removal

    Range Rover Classic
Hi, (I'm a newbie!), I have a '88 RR that's been sitting around in the garage for a few years. It has bad O2 sensors and a bad cat. Now that it's 25 years old, I don't have to run it through emissions anymore. My question is: if I hack off the cat, is there something that I need to do to the...
  11. 1996 4.0 - Exhaust - Cat back system - recommendations

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Greetings - my '96 appears to have rotted away large sections of the tubing, the second muffer and the first muffler as well. So - who makes a good cat-back system, or at 140K on the odometer (sorry to my British friends in Kilometers) should I just consider doing the cat converters off the...
  12. Removing cat converter, how to change ECU settings?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
On the 3.9 RRC, if you remove the cat converter you need to change a tune resistor in the ECU, or rather add it as a shunt between two pins on the ECU socket. What is the procedure with the P38 Thor ECU? Thanks!
  13. Cat Back Exhaust yields +.7 mpg in 5 days

Range Rover Mark III / L322
Disclaimer - I DO work for a major exhaust manufacturer. However I wanted to document recent experience I had with installing a cat back exhaust. On Friday, 2/3 I had my company's cat back exhaust system installed on my 2003 Range Rover with 127k miles. I've owned the truck since 40k miles and...
