My original thought was wheel bearings and after some internet sleuthing, I can't figure it out.
1989 Rover Classic
I am feeling some grinding in my rear axle.
There is some clunks every now and then with the noise.
I had my girlfriend slowly drive as I walked next to it and the only way I can...
Having trouble torquing down the connecting rods after installing rod bearings. After torquing down pistons 1 & 2, I'm finding the crank impossible to spin, which is required to torque the other rods down. I've broken 2 breaker bars attempting its rotation. Once both con rod pistons are...
Having trouble removing the top main bearings. Crank in place and caps have been removed. Spinning the crank doesn't move them at all. I've been able to push with a stiff plastic the bearing bout a 1/4" but no further. Has anyone tried heating theirs? Or have a suggestion? Thanks.
A noise is coming from the front of the engine... Its louder than it normally sounds. At idle and at higher speeds. I recorded the noise and compared it with other Users who posted to youtube and claimed it was their alternator bearings... However I removed the alternator, spun it... feels...
1995 Classic with 3.9L engine with 185k miles
I've removed my pistons to install new rings and some of the bearing shells are worn and showing copper. Can I just order a new standard set and replace them (machining the crank at this point is not feasible for me)?
I had 2 front airbags blow and a rear one that had a slow leak. So I did the Strutmasters coil conversion, because I could do it myself with my limited space and tools, and it was FAR cheaper of a fix. The install went good, but while we were working on the front passenger...
2003 Range Rover M62/ 5hp24 w/ 141k miles
My issues started a week ago and you can see in this thread how i arrived at removing the transmission: http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/6-range-rover-mark-iii-l322/272945-trans-failsafe-transfer-case-motor-noise-actuator-signal.html
I can hear a faint humming noise coming from my front end for the past week. It almost sounds like my tires need to be replaced, but they are fairly new and in good shape. The sound goes away at higher speeds. I have almost 100k miles. Could this be a warning sign that I will need new...
I just got the oil pan back on, filled it with oil, and this thing sounds weird. Definately something rotating badly. I'm going to pull the belt just to be sure though. What's your opinion.
Youtube might still be turning the video. sorry for it being sideways.
Looking for Information on if a thrust washer is placed below and above the thrust bearing in the upper swivel Pin? which is proper placement when I removed the old crushed one it only had one above the bearing? I have ABS brakes.
1995 SWB county classic
Recently i did rebuild of swivel ball with wheel bearings on my RRC 89 (no abs)

Hi there -
I'm rebuilding the steering box on my '95 RRC and when I disassembled it I found the needle bearings on the output shaft had started to disintegrate. Does anyone have a part number for those bearings? Looks like they are 1-1/4" ID, 1-1/2" OD and maybe 1-3/16" wide (I haven't...
I have a January 1995 4.6 HSE. It has 270,000kms (170k miles) and with the engine top hatted at about 180,000 (110k miles). I've had the car since 60,000kms (40k miles) - almost 15 years. I got it before L322 was released!
For the last 2.5 years & 30,000kms it has been having oil...
My 2007 RR supercharged needs new front bearings..that grinding noise is getting louder and bothersome...:
I was told to replace the bearings ONLY and not the all hub assembly to fix the problem...is this a good idea?
How much time in labor does it require??
I'm pretty sure I'm cursed when it comes to wheel bearings. The upside is I have become an expert at diagnosing wheel bearing noise and my latest indicates I have a bad w/b somewhere in the front. So, just to be proactive I think I'll change both sides. Surprisingly, the OE RRS wheel bearing...
