  1. "EAS Buddy Box" review.

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I wonder how much revenue RSW and RR cost land rover dealers per year? Not enough...keep up the great work guys! ps. I just bought the cable a month ago for EASunlock...and now they are free with the BuddyBox? I should have waited  pss. My Rover has only had two hard faults. Both times...
  2. Compressor bolts

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Yep. Buy a brand new EAS box. That would definately be easier. Albeit much more expensive.
  3. computer not ready please help

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I'm surprised the dealer didn't say...."drive it for 300 miles, bring it in and give me $500 and the codes will be cleared". The DMV storing mileage info in conjuction with viewing date of cleared codes sounds more plausible than the computer not "re-setting". Although, that sounds kind of...
  4. computer not ready please help

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I can tell you for a fact that I cleared faults and went through DMV (previously turned away because "check engine soon" and misfire codes were stored) within 50 drive miles of clearing codes. So I am not buying the 100-300 theory either.
  5. Help!! Driver side door wont open!

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Works out to shop rate for the dealer of about $600hr......hmmm, sounds about right!
  6. Oh no! Somebody help!

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Kmagnus, Thanks for the analogy, nostalgia and the laugh! That's exactly why I always slid to the back of the banana seat until my skinny butt pushed in to the 30" sissy bar before pulling the weelie.
  7. Help!! Driver side door wont open!

Range Rover Mark II / P38
First off, You may need the parts but I wouldn't; a) buy them from the dealer b)have them install You may be able to put up the whole assembly from a wrecker and remove door card and replace yourself. Obviously, getting in your RR from the passenger side won't work long term BUT somebody will...
  8. I fixed my CD changer!

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I gotta tell you. After owning a Rangie for a couple of years (and having some financial challenges along the way), one can sure develope self confidence as an all around "fix it guy". I am at the point where I will tackle just about any problem (well, I won't be dropping my own tranny any time...
  9. Need help pricing a 2000 4.6 HSE

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I own a 2000 4.6 and wish my loan pay off was only 8 grand! I probably still owe $13K or so on it and it just turned over to 120K miles. I have owned for over 2 years so it has taken a big depreciation since I bought it (yes...for you guys with your calculators out...I paid too much for her. In...
  10. Buyer's checklist

Range Rover Mark II / P38
To Rob M. EASKicker would be great (at about $500 US) but in case you are not aware, there is a free download for easunlock tool for windows or PDA (or linux). You can make a special cable or buy one for about $30 (like I did) that has been fully tested for integrity. I used my laptop to reset...
  11. The Rhino is ready to rear its ugly head!

Range Rover Mark II / P38
At least you don't have to worry about dirty finger smudges all over the pillars after picking up from the shop. The last trip to the shop (heater core and blend flaps) had my A pillars looking like 10 toddlers had a hershy bar party in the cab. Any idea how to clean those things without rubbing...
  12. 20" rims

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Those aren't too bad but not my cup of tea. They look like they would be a real bitch to clean. My finger tips hurt just thinking about it.
  13. Help with pressure switch wires to drive box

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Those two red wires can be swapped, I know that. That is to say, they don't have to go back into the exact hole each one came out of. However, if there are more open pins than just the two...can't help there. I couldn't get the yellow thing out of the plug myself, so I just unscrewed the ****...
  14. EAS recovery method is not working. please advice

Range Rover Mark II / P38
My compressor ran fine too....just wouldn't get over 100 psi in the tank. So running doesn't mean that it is fine, necessarily. Running the compressor with a gauge in line will let you know if it is up to the task or not. It also allows you to see how fast/slow air is bleeding from the system...
  15. So you replaced your heater orings. Then what?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Thanks Rick. I thought I better rip things out (including foam) for a full clean and dry. I will probably use some anti-microbial /anti-mold cleaner that I had purchased for a home related problem. Wash foam well with it and then place by the fireplace for a couple days. Then I will clean floor...
  16. Headgasket: Do I have a problem?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
I guess bar's leaks is fine for some in a pinch (although I won't use such proprietary products anymore for fear of clogging rad/heater core, etc) But in this case, it doesn't even seem that you have a problem (based on hydrocarbon in coolant test, etc). At least you are still trying to...
  17. heater box going ?

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Leave your blend flaps when you shut her down so that the windscreen/defrost mode is on. That way, instead of just feeling the "humidity" you can actually see if it is fogging/condensating on the windscreen. Will help judge the actual moisture level better. Also, does this blast of cool air...
  18. What is this orange gooooo (Lots of Pictures)

Range Rover Mark II / P38
actually, scratch that. The horn is a two wire plug but that looks to be too far from the horn mounting...now that I look at it again. Sorry. If nobody else replies, I will take a look under my hood and see if I can figure that one out for you.
  19. What is this orange gooooo (Lots of Pictures)

Range Rover Mark II / P38
Looks like original horn connector. Two horns in engine bay/front. One by the air filter box and one by the battery box. Someone might have put in an aftermarket horn or something and just hooked up wire from the left side (easier to get at). OR....it might have just come off, if that is the...
  20. What is this orange gooooo (Lots of Pictures)

Range Rover Mark II / P38
What color of coolant is in the expansion tank? Looks like coolant leaks to me. Maybe time for a full coolant flush and change. At the same time you could check and tighten all coolant fittings, clamps and hoses. Then check after a few days of driving. A can of engine degreaser and a hose...
