What is the new update firmware number that shows up on your SUV?
Do you think it will be available via OTA or only via dealer. Thnx

Not saying it will work for all but here was my method:

    1. Unpair Bluetooth device from the InControl touch panel
    2. Unpair carplay on your iphone (setting-general-carplay-mycars-forget this car)
    3. On iPhone delete vehicle Bluetooth device (Settings-Bluetooth-find your vehicle- forget device)
    4. With car engine on (plug iPhone into cable and allow Carplay)
    5. Once allowed disconnect iPhone from cable
    6. Pair iPhone to car via Bluetooth, once paired have someone make a call to you and answer it via the InControl touchscreen (*****do not answer the call on the iphone****) hang up call.
    7. Plug iPhone back into Carplay.
    8. Make sure Carplay is active.
    9. Have someone call you and answer via InControl Carplay touchscreen ( you should hear the caller)

    Good Luck

Thanks for the suggested fix, however that did not work for me. The problems arise since iOS update 12.1 and onwards. After analysing what’s happening, it is a clear faulty/buggy implementation of the carplay protocol by JLR. The do not properly hand over/ monitor / take back sound/speech channel. JLR simply hands over and waits for carplay to hand back at the end of the call. Carplay protocol documentation shows that they should implement more advanced commands, instead of the short-cuts they have implemented and which are not officially supported by Apple. That is why your BMW, Audi, Porsche, .... in fact nearly any other brand with carplay will still work with iOS 12.x and JLR’s not.
so technically, it’s due to changes from Apple, in reality it is due to a bad implementation of JLR. Hope they fix it or we will be stuck with it for ever.

Yeah I'm not too adventurous when it comes to my phone. I travel quite a bit (internationally, too) and my phone is way too important to me, unfortunately. Subtle bugs could easily become truly painful when you're a continent away, traveling solo.
I don't have anything smart to say to your comment about the situation - I'm struggling with it myself. The topix article was updated on 6/21 adding possible workarounds (what you said re speaker, as well as the cable unplug method, essentially quitting CarPlay), but it still calls it an Apple problem.

    Looking at this:

I'm excited for the iOS 13 changes to CarPlay. Has anyone tried it on their device, and does it address the receiving calls issue? If so I may take the beta plunge.

I was referring to a software fix for the infotainment system. If it didn’t affect other auto manufacturers then they should be able to issue their own
fix. I have tested on 5 other car brands and they all work fine. It’s a Roverr/Jag issue!

This time it's strictly related to the latest Apple iOS update. Spoke with service manager at Rover and they are all aware and basically it's a waiting game for iOS 12.4 to be released. Still not sure why Rover can't issue a software fix instead.

    Re: Carplay and receiving calls

I have had this issue on my 2011 and my 2017 RRS. I have also had this issue on a BlackBerry, Android and Apple device.

I had this issue prior to having CarPlay as well.

Bluetooth and USB do not like each other.

This needs to be resolved by Land Rover not pushed off onto Apple
