Gas cap warning light keep coming on. Any ideas?

2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. 78k Miles.

So almost everyday now I will get a message saying "Check Fuel cap". Is this common? I've put a new cap on too even. Problem is still there. I do every one in a while get a light for catalytic convertor below threshold. Could that be related to this? I feel so that my car is no so torquey either as it should be at times.

within the last 500 miles. I have done my fuel injectors and spark plugs.

    Any ideas?

I have the same issue. Hopefully someone will be browsing this site and have some answers that they can share.

there's most likely a sucking noise / gargling noise coming from near your gas cap. this means the charcoal canister needs to be replaced. they all go bad over time.

i have 2011 sport supercharged- my issue was the purge vale- simple to replace...

if you ever overfill at the gas station, you send the fuel into the canister, which should be free of fuel...and it goes bad.

Wow good to know. Until now I've always topped off after the gas pump automatically shuts off the first time. I won't be doing that any more.

Actually, this code is typically created when the gas cap is loose or leaking, but can occur anytime the system attempts a leakdown test, and it fails. The system knows the capacity of the tank, and the fuel level in the tank due to the fuel gauge. During the leakdown test, the system attempts to create a vacuum in the tank by pulling a vacuum on the tank. A sensor in the tank tells the ECM when a vacuum is created. If, for some reason, the tank sensor fails to report a vacuum within a certain time, the fuel cap light is illuminated. Any leak in the system can cause the failure, including a leak in the vacuum system, or a leak in the vapor side of the tank, including the vapor canister or lines. Ray
