WOW. Thanks for cracking the case! Love the upgrades. Much improved. What does everyone think? This is probably why LR is offering deals on the 2009's. I think I will be trading mine in for a 2010!

Re: Bad news on the 2010 RRS

The exterior seems a very mild restyle and I don't find anything really offensive or radically different with it. The Sport looked great before, it looks great now. I kind of like the more squared front end, somewhat HST-ish, not sure about the squished front grille though, it still reminds me a bit too much of an LR2 just as it did on the early spy shots. I was secretly hoping they'd get rid of the useless plastic appendages on the bottom of the doors at the last minute, but I guess they are considered "character lines" for the Sport and we'll have to live with them forever. No more Brembos?

The revised interior, though... Love it. Look! A real analog clock on the dash! To my eyes, the center console manages to look a lot classier than the current one without being gay, not that there's anything wrong with that: No more LCD from the 80s, less buttons and clutter, and nicer looking materials. I really like that there seem to be at least some redundant controls under the "all-in-one" touchscreen that's already in use on the new Jaguars. The display between speedo and tach in the instrument cluster looks cool as well, although it reads 32 mpg... Yeah, right. There seems to be a lot more leather in the cabin, note the stitching on window sills, upper dash. I wonder what the extra Terrain Response setting is, perhaps a new "Sport" mode to firm up the suspensions on the road? The horn on the Formula 1 steering wheel (I can't believe how many buttons they managed to cram on it!) is still going to be impossible to find in an emergency, though. Pushbutton start/stop, hopefully not as lame as the LR2's. And next to the center rear brake light on the redesigned roof spoiler I think I can see a backup camera lens, finally!

The specs of the new petrol engines and transmissions sound fantastic. The normally aspirated 5-liter V8 should make 375hp, almost the same output of the current 4.2 S/C, 0-60 in 7.2 secs, and will use less gas! But 510hp for the new blown engine? Wow. What a beast, 0-60 in less than 6 seconds... I can't wait to test drive one.

Re: Good news (was: Bad news) on the 2010 RRS

Hi, I saw the vehicles tonight and thought I'd chime in over here on the RRS board.

This is what I posted eariler on the RR board and on my site:

    http://www.ovalnews.com/2009/04/2010...eal-party.html

So to repeat a little and really address umbertob's commentary:

None of the vehicles had Brembos showing and they are listed as High Performance Brakes for the SC model. The Land Rover rep(Actually head of NA Marketing) said they are still Brembos, just not badged as such anymore.

The new Terrain Response setting is called Dynamic Program, it's designed “to increase the driver’s sense of connection with the road surface”. From the brochure, it’s standard on the Supercharged models and an option otherwise. I can’t believe I didn’t actually take a clear picture of the new Terrain Response knob addition.

The amount of leather has really grown and it looks great especially with the contrast stitching, the new Extended Leather Package appears to cover everything - it's an option on the HSE LUX & SC.

The new Start/Stop button is much better then the LR2, no more putting anything into the dash and you can unlock the doors and start the card with the key in your pocket. The Land Rover guy actually made a face when I mentioned the LR2 key.

I've always liked the RRS, but this updated model is one I many actually think about getting.

Re: Good news (was: Bad news) on the 2010 RRS

Some specs and equipment on the new lineup:

Interesting that some cool new options (steering wheel shift paddles, TR Dynamic setting) appear to be available only to the RRS and not to RR or Disco/LR4. "Adaptive Dynamics" must be the improved version of Dynamic Response. Dedicated iPod access, better late than never! And some intriguing new features in Terrain Response (Sand Launch, Gradient release, Rock Crawl using low brake force), would love to get more details on those programs.

Keyless Entry for the RRS & LR4 is truely keyless(fob stays in pocket), for the RR, you need to use the fob to unlock the doors.

You can see the keyless lock buttons like on the Mercedes here:

And great chart by the way!

Re: Good news (was: Bad news) on the 2010 RRS

More info on the 2010 Range Rover Sport. Enclosed PDF document is LONG but nicely detailed - answered most of my questions, anyway - and includes specs for all engines (including new V6 twin turbodiesel and carryover TDV8, both N/A in North America.)

Just about the only bit of technology that appears to be missing from the new car (in North America only) is real time traffic information on the satnav, using a sat service like XM Traffic - now that they merged with Sirius, you'd think it may be feasible on a Land Rover. They probably merged to late.

Interior looks good, albeit a little 'Japanese' (espcially the lower half of the dash):

While I have never been a fan of the HST style, this upgrade addresses deficiencies in the RRS brand, namely a sub standard interior for a product wearing the Range Rover name.

Hugely impressed with all the 2010 upgrades but for some reason the sport and its new feature set is extremely appealing.
