    Wrecked LR3 Pictures

Not a Sport I know but the chassis/frame are the same. A couple of weeks ago a client of mine was hit head on in their LR3 by a Lexus. Not sure what kind of Lexus as the vehicle is not recognizable anymore according to the husband. Speeds were in the 40ish mph range and the lexus drifted into his wife's lane tagging the LR3 just to the driver's side of the center line.

Poor quality pictures I know but the only camera I had on me was the cheapy I keep in my car and the sun was in the wrong position too.

Nah just a little wet sanding and then a nice solid buffing should take care of that.

Their insurance company obvisouly totalled the LR3.

Space isn't remote at all. It's only an hour's drive away if your car could go straight upwards.

thats horrible... there's only so much you can do to make sure you're safe on the road, and preventing ppl wandering across the median is something you just cant do.

i like how the hood is perfectly intact tho. its kinda neat actually.

I've taken the "Drive a vehicle that outweighs everything else" route. F=M x A, you can't argue with Newton's second law of motion.

Actually I think those pictures are quite encouraging, notice how there is no damage even to the driver's door, so all of the impact was properly absorbed up front. I'm impressed with how it crumpled without passing on much damage beyond the front section.

Only puzzled about the rear window...how that was broken, as not much else around it other than the wheel spat is damaged...maybe some flying shrapnel.

Yeah the LR3 performed exactly as designed absorbing all the energy right up till the A-pillar then stopping. I forgot to look but I remember the LR3/RRS having some kind of secondary load bearing beam that redirects the force of a sever accident under the floor crushing the transfer case. If the LR3 is still there tomorrow I will look underneath and see.

I think that part of the Lexus whipped around the after the initial hit and the back fender of the LR3 breaking the window and ripping off the fender flare. Think about what happens in this kind of accident. Both cars are going to rotate around the impact point and the smaller lighter lexus is going to rotate faster. It might rotate fast enough for the rear passenger side fender to impact the rear driver side fender of the LR3.

Wow some hit. It's nice to see that it held up so well. I'll show my wife. I take it everyone was ok? Figure they were doing 40ish at each other which is like hitting a wall at 80mph for the most part. You should be showing that to all your customers who are just "thinking" about buying one. Especially to the husbands who have wives who tote their kids around all day. There's your sales angle well done!

We're actually heading to Disney this afternoon for the weekend and decided to take the LR3 as opposed to the RRS (mostly cause it has the DVD player in it for junior). Orlando traffic is the worse!

The LR3 was doing just under 40 but the Lexus was doing over 40 according to the report. I am showing those pictures to anyone looking at a LR3 or a Sport since the basic crash structure is the same.

Everyone in the LR3 was fine but the people in the lexus spent a good amount of time in the hospital. The insurance company totaled the LR3 so there probably will be some more 18 inch wheels floating around the salvage market now.
