    ECU speed signal resistor ohms

Hi, I have been restoring my 1990 Range Rover Classic with a 3.9V8 EFI. While tracing some wiring going to the coil, I came across a resistor that is wired into into the feed to the ECU (input 39) as engine speed signal from the negative terminal on the coil. The specifications state that it is a 6.8K ohm resistor. Mine is reading 7.42K ohms.
Does anyone know what effect if any this would have on the ECU?

    Cheers
    Geoff

I know what you are talking about it is colour coded for different models and countries. The resister is called a "Ballast Resister" and has a part No. DCR1752L
