    ABS Whisperer Wanted (Inquire Inside)

Ok, so I found the diagnostic help for an ABS light that just won’t go out. Here are the codes:
    2-3, 2-8, 2-12, 2-13, 3-8, 4-12.

The only one I cannot decode is 2-3. The rest I know, but the strange thing is that even when clearing them all, the one that stays is 4-14.

    The Bad:
This 92 SWB sat for about 8 years. Mice made a home out of the heater box and most of the wiring around it.

    The Good:
I’ve rebuild and resourced most of the parts and wiring that was noticeably broken, faulty or eaten. It’s now a reliable trail rig, but I’d really like the ABS to work to take advantage of the ETC.

I’ve replaced most of the sensors, and reseated them against the exciters, but I still have the steady light. Where are the grounds located for the ABS system. Is there a way to test the ABS ECU to see if I need to replace it? Any other way to trouble shoot the system and find the root cause of the failure?

have you looked in to the rave? could be loose contacts at multi point connector under seat. have you tried swapping front sensors from right to left and vice versa in order to rule out bad sensor wiring? have you tried a replacement abs ecu just to rule out a bad ecu.

I imagine you do know that upon start up the abs pump pressurises, the system performs a complete check up but the light does not extinguish until the car moves over 15 mph.

one more observation traction control did not become available until model year (MY) 93 and only to the rear axle, all wheel drive TC did not become available until MY 99.

Been all through it trying to track where the grounds are for the system.

Unfortunately there isn’t an ecu around for me to try but I’ll look and see.

    Copy all the rest.

Whats odd is sometimes it works. Most of the time it doesn’t. That’s why I’m thinking it’s a ground somewhere.

    Fought mine for years.
Turned out to be a little ground wire located on the passenger side brake shield.
    Good luck

Spent some time reseating and moving the ground on the passenger front abs sensor. Light still stays on.

I need to to find an ECU maybe?

anyone else have ideas of where I can chase a ground or other places to look?
