With winter fast approaching I am preparing for my next major RRC project. I will be pulling the engine/transmission/Xfer case and replacing them with a Gen IV 5.3 V8, 6 speed auto and LT230. Question is, how hard is it to pull the entire front clip from the firewall forward? I found many references to pulling the fender skins but nothing on pulling the entire clip.
The last vehicle I did a similar swap on was a 1986 Jeep Grand Wagonner where it was a matter of unbolting the fenders from the firewall, removing the bolts from the frame mounts and the whole front clip came off in one piece. This made the powertrain swap a snap.
