    Issue

    Gooday,
I am having trouble with my ABS on my 2000 Range Rover. I'm only guessing it is the accumulator?
When I am driving the pedal loses its pressure and I have to pump the brakes up, getting a bit scary in heavy traffic.
When I turn on the key I hear the unit building pressure, then this noise stops, then the pedal loses resistance, so when I pump the brakes again the same thing happens over again etc.
    Thanks. Pedro.

Sounds more like you have a fluid leak. If it is the accumulator normally the pedal is very hard and does not a lot. How long does the pump run for?

I would say the master cylinder is worn out. If the power booster saw faulty the brakes would work but you would have to stand on them to stop. I don't think an ABS problem would produce your symptoms. You could try a brake repair shop for an opinion.
