Is p38 same as mark 2

I am trying to get a OBD 2 reader for a 01 p38 and I am getting that it is suitable for a mark 2. Is this the same thing . Thank you

Yep, the P38 is the second generation Range Rover.
4.0 SE manual, 1997, 'Priscilla': current daily
4.0 SE manual, 1995, 'Piper', built for offroad with tuned 4.6 on MS: lost in fire
4.6 SE auto, 1995, 'Prue': awaiting attention
2.5 DT manual, 1996, 'Paige': retired and stripped
    D90 TD5, 2005, 'Nessie' TR2 racer: sold

Any generic OBD 2 scanner will work with the P38 but will only show engine codes. If you want something that will work with all subsystems (ABS, SRS, EAS, HEVAC, etc), you need a dedicated P38 scanner such as the Nanocom. An 01 car will be a Thor/Bosch rather than a GEMS.
