Well, apologies for the long delay, but cold weather and a job change put this project on hold longer than expected. However, I finally sourced a good used diff, found an evening that worked, and my brother in law and I swapped it in and brought it home!

The drive home was relatively uneventful for a car that’s been sitting for two years. Definitely have a frozen caliper in the rear, and kept getting a warning for “gearbox overheat” which I’ll have to look into. That said, no other warning lights on the dash apart from the air suspension, which is disconnected.

I still don’t have any idea what I plan to do with this thing, but I’m pleasantly surprised at the fact that it could drove home after being so neglected.

Thanks for all of your help, more updates to follow!

Actually pretty pleased with how well it runs, doesn’t smoke at all and no ticking. Definitely needs some fresh plugs and fuel, but holding its own as is. I’ll get some pictures up of current condition. I gave it a quick wash and found that the paint is pretty faded from a few years of complete neglect, but at least the rust is minimal.

They don't rust. The chassis is pretty substantial steel and may get a bit of surface rust on it, but I've never seen one bad enough to worry about and much of the bodywork is an aluminium alloy. The only place you'll see visible rust is on the rear wheel arches and the front inner sills on some cars have been known to rot.

Can't argue with the price. Glad to know it's not a total loss!
