    Starting to concern me..

Had this problem once or twice but now its happened twice in 2 days.

Basically i go to start it and the ignition comes on, turn key to start and... nothing.. doesnt even try to turn over. If you turn the ignition off then back on it fires up like nothings happened..

Im a little worried that one day it just wont turn over. This a problem?

    Cheers

Mine has done that before. Turned out to be the battery cables had gotten loose. Loose enough to pull right off.

Funny, I was just thinking about this. I have had the same issue, not really a problem though.
I was thinking mine had to do with the brake safety switch.
Can anybody start their truck without a foot on the brake? I believe this isn't supposed to happen, but mine does it. Can't remember if my last 4.0 did this or not.

My 4.6 has done both of these. The first time my buggy didn't respond to the key my guts sank to the floor boards. Of course this was just after it's third visit to the shop for EAS work. "What next?" I thought. It's done it three times now. I just chalk it up to Lord Lucas.

I can start mine without my foot on the brake. I just can't shift unless braking.

ME NEGATIVE BATTERY END WAS LOOSE AND CORRODED A FEW WEEKS AGO. I JUST PUT A WHOLE NEW CABLE AND END ($25) AND NO MORE PROBLEMS. I NEVER HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKES TO START MY ROVER.

I get the same problem if I insert key turn to poss III to quickly....Methinks its because the key hasnt had time to sync with the system yet so engine is still immobilised

if that were the case you would get engine disabled in the message center

the key transmits the signal as soon as its inserted to its unlikely you can turn it fast enough for that to be the case
