Grand Lake - North Supply Trail - Pics

Did a quick little easy trail in the Grand County area. Went up North Supply and back down real easy. Wanted to test out my relatively new tires and more importantly check if they will tuck up underneath the car when articulated. The rims do not have the exact backspacing I need for these tires so they stick out just a bit.

Sweet the tires fit and do not rub.

Nice looking Rover. I like white. How's the FJ coming along? My friend in college had one in very good shape, and that thing was crazy. Built like a tank, it would go anywhere.

The FJ is running great. Although, I am still trying to get all the years of oil and dirt cake off the gear and diff boxes, so I can see if it leaks a great deal or not. I drained and replaced all the oil fluids on the car this last weekend. Wow, I think it was last serviced over 20 years ago. The oil was as black as ink, smelly and frothy. Probably lots of water contamination. Will need to discover if the gear noise from this car was just the way the gears were made or if there is some wear in the transmission and diffs.

Still trying to hit all the frame and underbody with rustoleum to kill the surface rust.

Snagged them off ebay awhile back for a steal. They are 245/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. Not terribly nosiy on the highway but a huge pain to drive, as any sudden movement or lane change sends the car swaying back and forth in a sickly way. Have to be really careful going up the I-70 Denver to Mountains coridor, can be a bit tricky. But they look and perform incredibly.
