The ability to view data from the steering angle sensor is invaluable. Saved my ass when I got my L322.

In the end, ended up having repaired every part of the EAS from struts and airlines to the steering angle sensor and the compressor. Glad I didn't give up and go coils. It really is a great system when it works.

How did you read the data from the SAS? What did it say?

First with INPA, then with All-comms. All-comms shows the orientation of the sensor, and tracks it's movement via a graph so you can check for deadspots and verify full range in both directions. Mine showed it was off center approximately 60 degrees causing EAS faults.

Re: Air suspension inactive HDC inactive brake ABS fault

It is interesting how this info is important to solve the issues. We had the rear hatch open overnite due to a large box we were transporting the next day. While unprotected it was under a roof overhang but it was a humid night. We drove off and the soon discovered issue was no cruise control. Then the dash said hdc inactive and air suspension inactive withe the triangle, question mark i think and abs lite on. Also the horn would not work. when we arrived at the farm my friend followed us to the changeover location for the box and advised that the brake lights were also on full time. Disconnected brake lite switch-no change-went to site and suggestion was 5A fuse #9 in glove compartment-btw very well identified on the cover panel. It was burned thru. I changed it and after driving off in short order all errors disappeared and all seems good again. Massive relief. We had lost a headlite the day before and i had changed the front fender side marker lights for clear ones a few days earlier so this had me wondering. Not sure why fuse blew but there seems to be a lot on it for 5amps. There is one referral to moisture causing this fuse to blow. I hope there is no other issue. So an fyi if anyone else has this happen. This

Ok, thanks for that info. Just to get it right, you are using AllComms with the engine running and turning the wheel lock to lock?

That is correct. It'll make sense once you look at it.

I hooked up Allcomms and all I got was a solid blue screen across, I think my SAS is shot.

Should see red dots tracking the location of the SAS once you start to monitor it. You saw nothing at all? Even when mine was shot, they were just erratic. Changing that SAS is not fun. I do not envy you if that's the issue.

Nothing at all, just blue everywhere!!! I have taken the column out before, so changing the SAS its somewhat easier. My biggest complaint is the $250.00 for the Sensor!!!

Re: Air suspension inactive HDC inactive brake ABS fault

When mine went I bought a good used BMW sensor. (I got mine from an E46 for 40 bucks shipped). I took it apart, and used the brushes from the E46 with the Range Rover electronics. That meant I didn't have to program the new one

If you get a new one it must be initialized with IDS to work. If that's the route you're taking, just buy a new BMW unit. Here's one on ebay, but you can find them cheaper.

Thank you for the heads-up on the sensor, I went ahead and bought it, Great Price!!!
The one I have on now came with the used steering column that I bought on Ebay. I'll just installed this new one and We'll see.
    Thanks Again!!!!

You can't just pop in a used SAS

I guess it must be coded to the car to work properly.

Re: Air suspension inactive HDC inactive brake ABS fault

After I installed it, with Allcomm, I got a msg. like "...serial number does not match..." or "...Wrong serial num..." Something like that.
I think with the new updated version of Allcomms, you can code it to the veh.

I don't think you can (code the sensor with all-comms). Usually the brushes fail and you can swap the new (good used) brushes into your sensor.
