    Buggy Infotainment system

So, does anybody know the newest version of the Infotainment software? I have an early 18D version and still have reboot issues. Also, has anybody successfully done an over the air update?

The dealer installed 19A for me. I don't think 19A is available over-the-air. I read somewhere on here that the over-the-air updates are still in beta testing, or something like that!

Aaron, how is 19A working for you? 18D is HORRIBLE and full of bugs.

18D was pulled in Jan and dealers were told to wait for 19A. Not sure which of problems was the one that caused JLR to halt all 18D updates though.

When my RRS arrives, i think we will be on 19B, hoping that is a great release.

Interesting. 18D seems somewhat buggy for me as well but it's a whole lot better than the original version I got in early 2017. I've tried OTA many times as well but figured it would never work

19A is working great, I've had no issues. It's kind of slow to boot-up and be able to switch audio sources, but I think all the versions have been like that. Honestly, I didn't have any issues with 18D (which was only installed for a few weeks before they upgraded me to 19A without me even asking for it). Both versions are a big improvement over 18C, which was horrible for me.

    Re: Buggy Infotainment systrm

Hi, new member here, with a brand new p400e in Austria. I read in the release notes if 19A that is has a known issue described "REAR VIEW CAMERA JUDDER":

"The camera image is not displaying as smoothly as it should be, this is currently under investigation and should be fixed in the next full software release."
Has anyone of you with 19A noticed this, whatever it means?

    Thanks
    Regards
    T

So, on 18D, I noticed that a lot of the weird software behavior was related to my installed SIM card ( not always connecting to the network, not always providing Wi-Fi). When I turned off the transmitted Wi-Fi from the rover, it stopped rebooting. It hasn’t rebooted for weeks. Just a thought for anyone who’s having infotainment reboot issues. Maybe, turn off the rover transmitted Wi-Fi. Definitely worked for me.

The 19A update is getting pretty good reviews so far on the L405 forum. Seems to fix a lot of issues people have been having over there.

19A is better, but man, I really wish that JLR did not skimp so much on the hardware of the infotainment system. Compared to any modern smartphone, it is extremely slow, the resolution is horrible, and bugs everywhere. I really hope that they'll realize that software is how they can differentiate with a younger audience -- especially when compared to other luxury brands like Porche or Tesla who get this right.

I don’t even want them to try. Just give up and put in wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Apple and Google do this much better than any in-car system ever will.

Yes, fair point and completely agree, but JLR needs to ensure that the hardware is good enough to power those systems. Right now CarPlay feels like it's running on the first version of the iPhone. Extremely slow, low resolution, and therefor buggy.
