Lease on my daily Ď16 RRS HST is coming up in 2 months. Bittersweet because Iíve absolutely loved this thing and have never regretted not going with a SCV8 (Iíve seen way more SVRís on the road than HSTís). My wife has been trying to convince me that I needed to grow up (our 2nd child was born a few months ago) and that it was time for a full-size RR. Her biggest issue is rear legroom on the RRS. But truth be told, Iíve never warmed up to the full-size RR looks or handling, and pretty sure a whole new design is coming 2021. I looked at many other SUVís including the new G-class, Cayenne, X7...but I kept coming back to the RR. Reluctantly, I was about to pull the trigger on a canceled order SVO paint RR SC (because every other car in Los Angeles is a black or white RR!), when my wife decided to sit in the back of a Ď19 RRS in the showroom. She became immediately convinced that the Ď19 RRS had way more rear legroom than my Ď16. Ok, I played along and told her she was absolutely correct then nicely told my SA to keep his mouth shut. So with luck on my side I was about to happily extend the lease on my HST and order a 2020 RRS when the order guide opened up. Then, in classic Land Rover style, the HSE Dynamic was gone from the configurator and in comes a new HST with a new, more powerful and efficient engine. Can it get any better??
Unfortunately my dealer has little to no info yet on the HST. Iím dissapointed in the limited standard color selection coming up in the US configurator and Vintage interior is not an option. Also, at least in the US, you canít seem to configure a car with 22Ē wheels without the $3500 exterior carbon package, that I donít care for. Maybe on a Lambo Urus because you just kind of need to, but I just donít get carbon bits on a 5,000lb SUV but I get itís an aesthetics thing. Anyway, I checked the Canadian website and it seems to allow 22Ē wheels as standalone and the downloadable brochure on the US site does show the wheels as standalone, so Iím hoping the US configurator is wrong. Anyone have any info on this or know when you can start ordering MY20 cars in the US? TIA.
