    Info for 2020 Range Rover

Just wondering if anyone has recieved any info on the 2020 L405...My SA says there is no info yet but he believes it will come down soon as he is no longer able to order 2019 L405.

He did mention a new Hybrid is coming and most likely no Diesel!

Just curious if anyone has any other info?

There are no order guides for the 2020s out yet. Not sure if the next order call will be 19 or 20, but I think it's likely it'll be for the 2020s

Re: Info for 2020 Range Rover

I spoke to my dealer today and they confirmed that they will be opening orders for 2020 on July 1st. They also said that 2019's can no longer be ordered but the caveat is that the dealers have ordered their 2019's and are at different stages were they can be amended. Since my lease is up in August and if I were to order a 2020 in July I wouldn't get the car until the end of the year. Doing so I would definitely go over my miles as I only have 2,000 miles left before I go over. The dealer is allowing me to amend one of their orders to my specification and not put a deposit. Maybe this is perfect timing even though I would love to have a 2020.

I doubt there will be be significant changes between the 2019.5 vehicles and the 2020 ones given that July 1 is less than three months away. There were several changes to the order guides across the board for Land Rover vehicles for the 2019.5 versions. I wouldn't worry too much about getting a 2019.5 model vs. a 2020 one, unless you have your heart set on a 2020 car.

While this may be true...if you pick up a 2019.5 - it is still considered a 2019. so in 4 years from now (Year 2023) its the difference between having a 4 year old car or a 3 year old car (if you wait for the 2020 model). If you want to maximize your resale value (at least $5-10k difference I believe) I would say waiting 4-5 months for a year newer vehicle is worthwhile.

Using that logic, you should wait for a 2021 model, your resale will be even higher.

Assuming you actually want the car, you need to jump in and buy at some point.

No offense, that's a stupid example. Because waiting for a 2021 means waiting 18 months. I'm talking about waiting 3 or 4 months at most.

Do you see the difference in my example to yours?

Maybe this will better explain my thinking...

We started with a 2016 Range Rover - picked up in October 2015
Then, we got a 2017 Range Rover - picked up in February 2017
Then we got our current 2018 Range Rover - picked up in June 2018.

I wanted to get a 2019 but keeping with the approx 16 month ownership we have had on our previous 2 cars, it didn't make sense to get a 2019 delivered in July or August knowing that the 2020 models would start showing up within 2 months of us getting our 2019. So we will end up owning our 2018 for a little longer, approx 18 months before picking up a 2020.

If this doesn't make absolute sense to you...then you keep doing whatever you do and I will do the same!
    Cheers!

Relax, I was kidding. You can always wait for the "newest" thing. If you think the difference between and end of 2019 model year car and an early 2020 model year car is that great 4-5 years later, then more power to you.

If your example is based on 16-month ownership, then why the heck are you talking about 2023 resale in your previous post? That makes no sense.

I ordered my 2019 model in February and should have it in a couple of weeks. If you're fine waiting until September/October because you think your resale will be that much greater in 2023 (or 16 months from now) then great. I'll hopefully be enjoying my new car for those 5-6 months while you wait. It all comes down what's important to you. And from my perspective on a 4-5 year old car, mileage matters almost as much as model year, especially when the build/in-service dates are close. Enjoy your car when it finally arrives!
