FROM LRO TO RRO
Before there was a RangeRovers.net information was traded around the world via email. One major Land Rover Owner email list existed, the "lro". Range Rover owners were soon evicted from the "lro" due to their interest in such topics as ride comfort, air conditioning, on-road performance and electronic fuel injection. Their opinions on Range Rover suspension design and off road superiority also created severe friction with owners of the earlier cart-sprung Land Rover models who could not believe that anything newer could be better, especially off road. Range Rover owners soon congregated to the new "rro" email list. Below is an example of how things looked on the "rro' mailing list. If you look closely you will see how easily things could become intermixed and off topic. This email string is a mix of Mark II/P38 brake bleeding and Classic steering box replacement.
THE BIRTH OF RANGEROVERS.NET
At the end of 1995 Netscape was in it's infancy and Internet Explorer 1.0 was just entering the market. Early web authoring greatly limited layout and interface on the internet. In 1997 RangeRovers.net was started as an experiment to provide our founder with more knowledge of the fledgling internet and to better understand the challenges blind people have accessing it. HTML3 became the authoring starting point for our site allowing our founder to create a central meeting place for enthusiasts to access our compiled knowledge.
AN ANNIVERSARY FACELIFT
Starting our 15th year of dedication to our members and enthusiasts around the world, it was felt that a facelift was overdue. With a quick round of updates and some minor visual changes RangeRovers.net 2.0 was brought out as an interim step towards a full fledged rewrite of our pages.
A NEW CHAPTER FOR RANGEROVERS.NET
Acting on the requests, suggestions and guidance of RangeRovers.net members from all walks of life a new look was developed for the site. After several beta tests we were able to roll out an all new interface and layout. No longer will you have return to the main page or wade through lists of page links to navigate around the site. Thanks to dual vertical menus any of the main sections of home page and every forum can quickly be access with a single click from any page.
