| Customized interior
of this SVC 2001 HSE includes extra burlwood, carbon fiber trim,
additional instrumentation, hands free cell phone, and more. |
|
The interior has a special carbon fiber
trim treatment, with extra instrumentation and many other upgrades. In
the words of the Truck
Magazine review, "Sitting in
this SUV is a
visual and tactile treat, with carbon-fiber trim on everything that
isn’t
leather. Interior options run the gamut, from a seriously upgraded
audio
system, GPS, hands free communications, even dual radar detectors. The
abundance of newly installed soundproofing still allows for the
aggressive
tones of the engine and exhaust to punch through during wide open
throttle
runs."
Reference price $39,500 but Make an Offer. (Blue book on the stock Range Rover of the same year with higher miles and no upgrades is $30k). WIth more power and features on tap than a Mk III Range Rover, this represents an attractive option for over $30K less.

Article
from Truck Trend Magazine about this SVC Special Edition Range Rover Range Rovers
have always been
capable vehicles, able to tackle the Serengeti or the shopping mall,
and
anything in between. Special Vehicle Concepts in Newport Beach,
California, has
a long history of injecting large doses of individuality into
automobiles and
sport/utes, so we decided to try one of their latest creations,
tailored for
the mean streets of Rodeo drive. Not a single
area of the
4.6HSE we tested has been overlooked, starting with an Eaton M90S
Supercharger
atop the 4.6L V-8. The cylinder heads have been ported and polished,
large
Manley valves installed, and a performance camshaft slipped in. A
reprogrammed
engine management system helps keep everything working together to
boost power
considerably. Stock range rovers make 222hp at 4750 rpm and 300lb-ft of
torque
at 2600 revs. The SVC edition, we’re told, kicks out 360hp at 3600 rpm,
while
torque has been increased to 410lb-ft at 2800 rpm. The
suspension has been
massaged as well, with Bilstein gas shocks fitted to each corner.
Rolling stock
has been upgraded to 20-in. three piece alloy wheels and 295/45R20 Toyo
M+S
tires. Both these additions made the SVC Range Rover feel more
responsive than
stock models. Although there did seem to be more road feel, in most
cases it
wasn’t objectionable. Nestled within the wheels are cross drilled
rotors and
stainless steel braided lines. During our brake testing, we found it
firm and
linear, with little fade. The chestnut about getting what you pay for works in reverse here, you’ll pay for what you get. This If your
checkbook can survive
a hit this big, it’s just the thing for bringing home the spoils from
Rodeo
Drive.
