Introduction
On the 4.0/4.6 Range Rover, one of the annoying problems that happens after a few years is the disintegration and warping of the climte control air intake filter thatsits just behind the intake grill in aqt the rear end of the hood/bonnet in front of the windshield. This filter is annoyingly inaccessible, and it is not clear how to get it out.  David Cairns recently (January 2007) replaced this filter on his 1997 Range Rover, and kindly took the trouble to photograph and document the procedure,reproduced below, to make it easier for other owners to follow.

The genuine plenum filter, part number BTR9548
