
While working on an engine replacement project, Ron Beckett discovered that
access to the engine bay can be greatly improved on the P38A
Range Rover by opening the hood/bonnet to the completely vertical
position (see photo at right).
This is especially helpful in such operations as lifting the engine out
with a hoist.
Land Rover designed the hood so it can be opened to this extreme
position and held there by retaining clips that are thoughtfully built
into the hinges. The pictures below, kindly supplied by Ron, illustrate
this procedure.
