Rovers in the Desert

A Range Rover 4.0 Somewhere in the Mojave, April 1999.
Far from the madding crowds, this Rover is in its element on a primitive desert road surrounded by sand, rocks and cactuses.

Amargosa Canyon
A rough 4WD road passes through spectacular scenery on its way up Amargosa Canyon and Sperry Wash at the south end of Death Valley.
Gray Mill, Bodie, California
This 5 stamp mill is located a mile or two east of Bodie. It was active in the 1880's during Bodie's boom times, and the stamps are still intact today.
Range Rover 4.0 Winching a Series IIA Land Rover
This scene was photographed some 15 miles up the rugged Cottonwood Canyon 4WD road in Death Valley in November 1998. Digging and kinetic recovery failed to unstick the stricken Series II, so the Range Rover's winch was pressed into service for a successful extraction.
