Overview
The 2009 model year was marked by a number of cosmetic upgrades. New
softer dash leather, improved door seals, a modified color palette, and
new wheel designs were the main changes to the standard models. Also, a
new Autobiography Package for the Supercharged
edition was introduced in the US. Named after the Autobiography edition
long available on Range Rovers in the UK since the earliest models,
this was a US-style pre-ordained luxury option package rather than a
customized set of features, trim items and colors that could be
uniquely chosen by the owner as in the UK Autobiography Edition. The
package included special leather and wood trim, the 4-zone climate
control and insulating glass options (introduced in 2008), the
rear-seat entertainment package, a new wheel design, and an
Autobiography tailgate badge.
Pricing:
Pricing in the US: The naturally aspirated HSE had an MSRP of
$78,450, while the Supercharged model had an MSRP of $94,100.
*Prices include a $775 destination and delivery charge. Tax, title,
registration fees not included.

No changes from 2008; the electronic locking differential was still
standard on the Supercharged and optional on the HSE models, with an
electronic locking center differential on both models.

Wheels:
The inevitable new alloy wheel designs and options that Land Rover
introduces nearly every year were part of the cosmetic trim upgrades. The
19-inch
wheels on the Range Rover HSE (standard model) were changed to
incorporate seven sets of double spokes. The 20-inch aluminum wheel
included with the HSE’s LUX package was modified to incorporate nine
solid spokes. For the Supercharged model, a new design was introduced
for the standard
20-inch wheel with seven double spokes (different from the HSE’s
wheel),
while a polished 10-spoke wheel was an available option. A
third Diamond Turn 20-inch wheel with 7 V-shaped spokes was exclusive
to
the new Autobiography Package (see below).
Badging: The optional
Autobiography package came with an Autobiography badge on the tailgate
and another on the door sill.

Interior
For 2009, all Range Rovers received softer leather fitted to the
instrument
panel. Front door seals were improved to reduce road and
wind noise intrusion. The official press photo below shows the
resulting front interior of the 2009 Supercharged model.
The new Autobiography Package added several interior trim
upgrades. All seat surfaces were upholstered with soft
semi-aniline leather. As well as the top of the instrument panel (which
became leather clad in 2009 for all models) the sides of the
center console and top surfaces of the doors were also finished in
leather.
The wood panels in the Autobiography were advertised to consist of "14
pieces located
strategically throughout the interior to provide an extra-luxurious
appearance". This seems to be about the same amount of wood trim as
on
regular models, but a careful count by alert RangeRovers.net member Michael
Williams revealed that the HSE has 12 pieces, while the Supercharged models with
the optional 4 zone Climate Control introduced in 2008 add two pieces of
wood around the rear climate controls. Since this package is part of the Autobiography option, this accounts
for the 14 pieces. The special "climate controlled" glass
introduced as an option in 2008 was also included. The rear-seat
entertainment system normally offered as an option in Range Rovers was
standard as part of the
Autobiography Package. The official press photo below shows the front
interior of an Autobiography model, but the main thing that
distinguishes this photo from the regular model above is the leather
trim on the door panels.
