I am in need of an engine oil sump pan gasket replacement and I just want to make sure I didn't miss soemthing. The RAVE shows removal of the trans pan but I didn't see in it how to get to the sump pan under the engine to remove it. Judging by my examination it would appear you need to remove...

A warning to fellow P38ers. I was changing the oil and filter on the transmission and one of the steps is to remove the filler tube from the pan before it can be removed. The large nut holding the tube to the pan was really solid so I used a bit too much force and the fitting started to bend...

Rave calls for sealant... I got a gasket for it when I bought parts from one of the vendors. Does anyone have experience using gasket vs. sealant? I'd prefer to use the gasket if it doesn't leak for future maintenance.

If so, between the manifold and gasket, between the gasket and heads, or both? Was a valley pan gasket leak and not the head gaskets thank God.
