    Hi Folks,

    Anybody here have detail instruction?
How many quart do I need? Do I need a new drain plug and fill plug?

Royal Purple make transfer case oil or I have to get the oil from the dealer?

I did a search but cant find anything.

Its only 1.5 qts--use the LR spec. The spec says Shell TF 0753. Perhaps someone can confirm this but IIRC its fill until spill. I think.

Space isn't remote at all. It's only an hour's drive away if your car could go straight upwards.

Yup! It's around 1.6 quarts but LR says just fill to level of fill plug. I'd stick with using LR tcase fluid, was around $19 a quart from my dealer.

You might want to find a good independent mechanic. The. Risk might out weigh the reward here.

I did mine about a month ago. Pretty straight forward. I got the fluid from the dealer because you can't seem to find out much about it or a substitute. No new plugs or anything and torque was just tight.

You can use royal purple synchro max I believe. That's what I used and its perfect. If you do a search there is a write up on royal purple for the diffs and transfer case. Ill check my garage tomorrow at check back with exactly what I used.

Changing transfer case fluid is as straight forward as it gets, even easier than changing the oil/filter.

    Re: Transfer Case Oil change

    I would use OEM fluid

Royal Purple is only safe on the differentials, they too state to use OEM in the transfer case: http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/wp-co...ence_Chart.pdf

I've checked several companies and no one has the transfer case alternative for RRS.

Also, its 1.5 QTS \ fill till it spills.

Pretty straight forward, can reuse both the drain and fill plugs. Only thing is I found out that you need to pump it in slow else it drains out if you do it too fast.

    22Nm / 16lb.ft for each plug

    Re: Transfer Case Oil change

Unless I am misreading that RP cross referance sheet is for transmissions, not transfer case. I spoke with 2 reputable Indy shops as well as my local LR dealer and they all said you could use a variety of fluids, not just the OEM. Also spoke with the RP rep directly via phone. Not trying to start an arguement here as I don't care what people use. Take it for what it's worth.

The transfer case drain n refill. pdf stated I need to use new sealing washers for the drain and fill plug.
Im going to my local LR dealer Monday to get 2 quart of transfer case oils. Do I need to get the sealing washers?

    Re: Transfer Case Oil change

I had my transfer case oil changed at Jiffy Lube on my 2008 HSE. I am not sure what oil they used. I presume it's not what is mentioned above. Do you think this is an issue or will be?

I wouldn't let Jiffy Lube come within 100 feet of any of me cars. If I were you, I would redue the service ASAP, and hope in the proses they didn't strip and or overtightn the plugs! Especially since you don't know what type fluid they used.
