Houston...we have a problem!!! Bummer, but what kind of plain and simple tires are you running there Goose...I don't see any snow studs or other grippy siping to get you thru the snow!

whoa that sucks. is the dealer going to make this right by fixing the camber, and new tires?
Yes, I've admittedly been lax in checking my tires for wear this season but:
1. We've had no snow..so far
2. They're what's left of a set of Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow's (aka the Nice and Slow's b/c they used to hum very loudly once I hit 75mph). Now that there's no tread left and the cords have been exposed they have quieted down quite a bit but I'm afraid to drive faster than 40mph now.![]()
But seriously, the fronts prolly have another 7K in them, but these rears just went kaplooey after the misalignment. Compared to other snow tires I've ever owned, these are probably the worst tires I've ever put on one of my cars. To anyone considering them on this car, I would say stay away.

I've had great luck with Conti DWS tires here in NJ under all sorts of weather conditions (not in my new-to-me RRS, but in 2 rear-drive BMW's). Plus, they have a 50k mile warranty.
Goose, how much was the camber off? I have the same snows and I'd have to say that if I wore them to the cords, they'd probably look similar. I don't even see the sipes on your outer tread anymore - aren't they way past usable?

I'm not sure. I suspect there is an issue with toe here as well. Maybe a combo of too much negative toe and negative camber? I'm gonna find out what the settings are this Fri as I am taking the rig to a guy who does alignments on race and track cars to see what's going on.
What's wacky is I had the tires rotated before the rear diff was changed about 10K ago and the wear on the front/backs was roughly equal. Both fronts are in good shape still--probably another 7K or so, while the backs are...So something is causing the backs to wear very quickly after that diff change.
There was the issue with nebulous "bush settle" that LR had with the LR3/RRS early on in which they admitted there was a tire wear issue but never admitted any problem to on their part. The wear or these is similar. So, IDK. Btw, hard to tell in the pic but the outside tread is just a thumbnail above the wear indicator.

Here's another thought... I had the same issue and blamed the dealer after two sets of tires that wore evenly and got about 35K out of them both. Put on the third set and the dealer talked me into an alignment and all of a sudden I was ripping through rears, as in your photo, seemed out of camber in 10K. They replaced them once and realigned. Worn out again in 8K. Turned out to be the rear ball joints...problem solved. Very odd how it would seeming go bad so fast and coincidently timed with the intial alignment. Give it some thought... they were bad.
gooseyloosey i aligned my car at master tech two days ago they used that hunter technology alignment machine, they were able to pull out the factory alignment ratio's, lets see if your numbers match my numbers that i have.it shouldnt be different if if its a hse or supercharged right? the picture of the results isnt too clear.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll have the mech check those ball joints while the wheels are off and hopefully have a better idea what's going on after the alignment this weekend.

Ok. The results are in.
Camber:
D was -1.9 deg-- slightly out of spec
P was -1.7 at the upper end of spec
Toe:
-.41 on both sides (WAY out of spec, as spec is for slight + toe)
Looks like the toe was the major culprit here and aided and abetted by the camber.
Apparently the dealer hired the town drunk to do alignments.![]()

Are they going to make it right for you concerning the lost tire wear?
