Hard acceleration jerking motion

I've been noticing that when I punch on the gas it feels like my axle is going to rip right off. It's not every time but mainly while I'm driving then punch on the gas pedal I feel a big jerking motion and a sound that makes me cringe thinking that my axle is going to pop out. Kinda hard to explain but wondering if anyone else notices that

I'm sure an axle-ripping-off feeling is not normal. How about hard braking?

Hard braking feels ok.

From a stopping point to punching the gas pedal it feels normal. Just when I'm trying to change lanes or something and punch on it I get that big thumping noise. Maybe gear box?

I doubt its the gearbox itself, b/c it won't care if you are turning the steering wheel.

Assuming this is not something like a loose spare tire or something like that...this is something you feel most though the steering wheel, or in the pedals, or on the floor?

Since it seems only when he in already in motion, could it be like the torque converter or the transmission mounts

I feel it mostly in the floor and when I put it in sport mode it jerks as well (sometimes)

Hmm. Ruling out steering related as you don't feel it there. Torque converter problems usually result in a shudder at low rpms--like your car shivers--not as violent as what you describe. As Frisco mentioned it could be the engine or trans mounts. Have the car put on a lift and all the mounts checked. A mechanic can look at the mounts and tell if they are leaking fluid. After that...I'm stumped.

i have the same problem, i had my transfer box module changed and i think maybe the didnt update the software or the software wasnt installed properly, whiles driving at around 50-60 m/h and i step full way on the gas you feel a hard shiftdown and it nudges you like you have been hit from the back, it only happens when you really step full way on the gas but if you slowly gas half way it will change smoother.

I had my torque converter go bad on another car, intially felt like a hit a big pot hole, when it shifted.

With regard to SW update, on my 06, I was able to replicate a CEL that would not store any codes by getting the car to around 60mph on the h'way and using manual shifting, shift between 5 or 6th gear, having the RRS rpm around 2k. There was a continuous vibration that could be replicated under the car and caused the CEL. There was a SW update but my vin did not match the impacted range, however, the dealer did the update and the transmission has been working fine since.

SO possibly there may be a SW upgrade for you if nothing mechanical is found - might just have to push for it

I believe it's the adaptive transmission behavior changing it's curve by reading your driving habits. I hate it. It gets reset at service, but it is not a code you can clear yourself.
