    Air suspesion issue

My 2006 sport is having air suspension issues, I got the yellow fault light and suspension fault in the message centre, but the car seemed to still rise.

I then had a red light fault and my front right tire went into a red zone on the on board diagnostic screen, and i lost all the air in the front of the car and it became really bouncy. I took it to the stealer and they spent 4 hrs looking at wires.... they came back and told me that they fixed a short and my compressor ws making alot of noise.

My compressor has always been noisy, bought the car used over 40k ago but it always worked, even when i played with the air suspension a few times. Was told it could also be the bracket... I think it is the bracket because it makes different noises when accelerating or braking.

The stealer will said that he thinks the compressor will not fix the problem but wants me to start there! I asked what other things could it be or what other things on top of the compressor could it be but they are saying they don't want to speculate.

I told him its not the amount compessor I am only worried about, it the buy and hope attitude, then I may need to spend more with no gaurentee it will be fixed. I can't do things that way.

I don't think that it is the compressor because the car has full faults and will loose all pressure, then lift the rear to ride or extended height, just not the front with in 20 seconds or so.... The front will raise but not evenly or slowley, some times I need to restart the car because the front wont raise at all. But will after restart.

I hear air coming front the front end of the car from both sides, when i shut down the car and go look at the height I hear it and can see the car lowering.

Last but not least, I have the compressor is taking time to cool msg, but only after it has run for 15 min or so....

I need some advise or guidence, place to read more on the topic, so that i can have an informed conversation with the stealer? None of my trusted guys want to touch air suspension

Need help before I cause more damage.

    Thanks

    Re: Air suspesion issue

This is hard to diagnose over the interwebz but a couple things to check.

Your compressor should run for a minute or two then shut off. It should not be running for 15 mins-- not sure if this is what you mean when you say "Last but not least, I have the compressor is taking time to cool msg, but only after it has run for 15 min or so...."

The compressor could be running but not generating the required air pressure or volume, and would need to be replaced. You could have it pressure tested.

There is also a solenoid block that allocates air to each corner and one or more solenoid(s)could be malfunctioning.

Its also possible that you have an air leak in one of the lines or possibly the air bag. You can test this with a soapy water solution.

Ask them what the faults were. At the least they should have told you what lead them to the "let's replace the compressor and pray" approach.
