If you're under warranty still, the dealer will replace. If not, highly suggest getting the new Sears Advanged Gold AGM battery...much better battery, it's Glass Matte technology and won't leave you stranded like the standard battery.
PJPR - 06 Cairns Blue HSE
140K - Running like a charm!
Thanks for the replies! I better get a new battery before it messes things up.
Do you guys know how much the OEM batteries go for?
Thanks!!!

OEM cell is made by Varta in Europe, a brand that's not available in North America. That's good, because Varta is crap. The equivalent size and type would be a "wet" battery such as the Interstate MTP-H7 (groups size 94R), widely available for about $150, which is what a dealer would likely replace your OEM battery with. A step up in CCA and reserve capacity (slightly longer but still fits comfortably in the battery compartment without any modifications) would be the MTP-H8. I purchased that one after my OEM battery died and it lasted me 50% longer (mileage and time-wise) than the original Varta, so I really like Interstates. Paul's recommendation of a "dry" Absorbed Glass Mat type battery is a good one, though. Sears Advanced Gold (or Platinum) batteries were not yet available in a size compatible with the Sport the last time I shopped around for a battery, otherwise I would have looked at those first. They seem priced competitively with traditional wet batteries of the same group size and have a very long warranty, can't ever spill acid even if they fail (with all the electronic modules tucked around the battery in our engine compartment, that's a big plus) and - on paper at least - should last longer.
You want want either a DEKA or Sears Platinum...........I run a bass boat every weekend 3 out of the 4 seasons year round and travel all over the place with 4 batteries in the boat.
My main battery is a DEKA Group 31 strictly for startup and running the big electronic units I have. That thing is a beast and charges fast and will last a LONG time......
I have run through many different batteries until I started using either or of those and have NEVER looked back, those are the probably best starting batteries you can buy............you can drain them all the way down if need be too, but that will never happen with your truck.
